Psalm 68:6
“God sets the lonely in families.”

We believe that orphan care is central to the heart of God.

As we grow in our awareness and understanding of the Gospel, we are compelled towards the vulnerable.
Our desire at The Refuge is to mobilize the church to care for the orphan.

We are convinced that all believers are called to play a role in orphan care: some will foster, some will adopt, and some will provide support/strength for the families that do.
We believe that we are obligated to battle to protect and care for the unborn, the vulnerable, and the waiting.

The Unborn

We see a growing epidemic of discarded children and we are compelled to carry God’s heart to them.  We believe it is our mandate as Christians to advocate for the unborn and take a stand against abortion.  We have partnered with two ministries in our area that are leading the way in the pro-life movement.

The Vulnerable

We are committed to raising-up and equipping families to serve the foster care movement in our area.  Fostering involves care for children whose parents are unable, neglect, or refuse to provide for children’s needs, by offering them food, clothing, shelter, security, safety, guidance, and comfort.  There are nearly 10,000 children currently in foster care in our state.

The Waiting

We believe that adoption is in the heart of God and the central theme to the gospel.  We believe that adoption at birth, not abortion, is the answer for unwanted pregnancies.

Waiting children within the foster care movement are those children whose parental rights have been terminated and have a goal of adoption.  There are over 2000 children in our state waiting (within the context of the foster care system).
